SpeedDeck – On site rolling at the coast

SpeedDeck Building Systems is currently supplying aluminium secret fix standing seam roof systems to two prominent coastal projects, each presenting individual challenges for production on site.

For the Blackpool Tramway project aluminium SpeedDeck was chosen by the architects in preference to the specified zip-up standing seam system. The waveform roof involves roof sheets 69m long manufactured at eaves level and naturally curving to the radius. This is a regular method of production for SpeedDeck with the manufacturing unit suspended by crane at the eaves.

The Weston Grand Pier refurbishment at Weston-Super-Mare involves 80m long aluminium SpeedZip rolled at the front end of the pier and transported by ramp to the building at the piers end. This project has two webcams to view the building erection as it happens.

Each project has presented unique challenges in design and production and involved close co-operation with the architects and installers Range Roofing and Yorkshire Sheeting.
