SpeedDeck Brings Secret Fix Excellence to RAF Northolt


  
SpeedDeck, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of metal roofing and cladding systems, has provided its secret fix standing seam metal roofing to RAF Northolt, as part of the MoD Estates London project (MoDEL).

Carried out by main contractor Norwest Holst, the wide ranging project will combine operations from a number of Defence sites in Greater London at RAF Northolt to create a flexible, modern, site with first-rate facilities and improved quality of life for personnel.

Five of the buildings from Phase One of the project have already been completed with SpeedDeck secret fix roofing installed by Gale Construction. These include the site’s Motor Transport Workshop, the Shared Technical Centre, a general Workshop, Fire Station and the site’s Air Historical Branch / Directorate Of Aviation Regulation & Safety Building. 		 

After the successful completion of these buildings, SpeedDeck was automatically specified for a further nine buildings on the site with construction due to complete by the end of 2009.

SpeedDeck easily fulfils all of these requirements and was therefore the natural choice for us on all fourteen buildings that we have worked on.”

The roof consists of SpeedDeck in 0.6mm thick Corus Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra Merlin Grey in various twin skin systems. Laid in one length ridge to eaves, SpeedDeck roofing ensures excellent leak proofing and, with the fully sealed WalkLiner inner sheet, provides an excellent air and vapour barrier. Rock-fibre insulation provides excellent acoustics and insulation with a U-value of 0.20W/m²K. WalkLiner is a walkable working platform liner and ensures non-fragility, quick water tightness and ease in building the roof.
