Off-site manufacture – the modern method of construction

Off- site construction is the modern method of construction based on the off- site manufacturing of building elements.
SpeedFormSpeedForm is the complete off-site manufactured structural, insulated, pre weathered roofing system where speed of installation comes as standard!

SpeedForm offers a sustainable, environmentally friendly roofing solution.
What is SpeedForm?

SpeedForm is a structural all in one roofing system, built around EcoJoist open-web joists to give a light, strong and rigid construction. SpeedForm incorporates 305mm or 425mm of non-combustible glass wool primary insulation with rock fibre infill insulation. The panels are faced with 18mm OSB to the top which is pre weathered with Protan SE single ply membrane and a 0.7mm polyester coated profiled steel underside. The panels are craned onto the roof complete, and the single ply membrane is heat welded to join to adjacent panels.

Why Off Site Manufacture?

Having the roof delivered to site pre assembled offers a number of key benefits:-

Speed of installation – potential reduction of installation time in excess of 50% over traditional construction methods

Energy efficient – U values down to 0.122 W/m2K help reduce energy usage over the entire lifespan of the building

No site waste – avoid the cost and inconvenience of storing and disposing of waste products

Sustainability – manufactured from environmentally friendly and recyclable products, SpeedForm is a truly sustainable system. In addition, as SpeedDeck is a Planet Positive company, SpeedForm can be supplied with 110% carbon offset customer choice option.

Reduce time spent working at height – significantly reduce the time that the workforce has to spend working at height improve Health & Safety on siteand therefore reduce the risk the workforce is exposed to.

Factory manufacture – manufacturing is carried out in our ISO9001 quality assured factory, so you can be sure you will receive a high quality roof on site!

Pre installed Monodraught Ssunpipes – take advantage of natural light to create a comfortable and more energy efficient internal environment.

The Advantages of SpeedForm
Advantages from specifier through to client and building users.

Fast installation times gives potential cost benefits whilst helping reduce the time spent working at height and the associated risks. When the panels are installed the roof is insulated and weatherproofed all in one operation. This can significantly reduce the construction time and help enable the building to open earlier than would normally be the case. This can offer commercial benefits to the client. To further improve safety, SpeedForm can be delivered to site with the Latchways fall arrest system fully installed.
Energy efficiency is now of prime importance. With SpeedForm ‘U’ values down to 0.122 W/m2K can be achieved, so real energy savings can be made over the lifespan of the building.Energy efficiency
No site waste means less cost and inconvenience on site. Disposal of waste can contribute to site costs but with SpeedForm the roof is delivered complete with no waste to dispose of.

Sustainability is a very important issue in today’s construction world and SpeedForm provides a fully sustainable roofing system. By minimising waste and reducing the volume of materials transported to site the embodied CO2 content of the roof is significantly reduced. All the timber used in the roof cassettes is Chain of Custody certified to come from sustainable sources, the insulation has zero global warming or ozone depletion potential and the metal elements are fully recyclable. In addition, as SpeedDeck is a Planet Positive company, SpeedForm can be supplied with 110% carbon offset as an item of customer choice. For full detail of Planet Positive click HERE

The design ensures an extremely airtight roof construction with very low U-values – down to 0.143 W/m2K for 425mm thick insulation – and spans of up to 8.5m. U-values can be further reduced to 0.122 W/m2K by adding a further 50mm of PIR insulation on site.
SpeedForm can be supplied with Monodraught Sunpipes pre installed and weathered.
Monodraught
Benefits of Sunpipes

• No heat loss in winter or solar gain in summer months
• No limit to length of SunPipe or number of bends used
• No structural alterations and no maintenance
• Virtually burglar proof and vandal resistant
• Self-cleaning and condense-free Sun Dome

SunPipes offer an energy-free method of introducing daylight into windowless areas eliminating the running costs of artificial lighting but with all the related benefits including personal wellbeing.
SpeedformThe innovative SunPipe system has undergone considerable development. It maximises internal light by reflecting and intensifying daylight through a mirror finished aluminium tube impregnated with a pure silver base designed to eradicate any chance of glare. Externally, it terminates in a patented self-cleaning diamond shape dome optimised to catch all angles of sunlight. A brushed nylon gasket at the top allows the system to breathe without condensation while the unbreakable polycarbonate construction is secure and vandal-resistant.
Internally, a prismatic ceiling diffuser casts the light evenly across the area. The sealed air acts like a double-glazed unit and prevents the egress of heat. SunPipes can be practically any length to take natural light deep into the building including bends or horizontal configurations in various diameters. For example, a 450mm diameter SunPipe can light up 25m2 even on cloudy days.Light Diffuser
Speedform panels can also be produced with openings to accept Monodraught windcatchers. These can remove the need for air conditioning in buildings, reducing energy costs for the entire lifespan of the building.

WINDCATCHER

Natural ventilation has been around for a long time! Indeed, the original Wind Towers in the Middle East have been around for more than 2,000 years and were used to capture the prevailing wind and turn it through 90° into dwellings below. Monodraught Windcatchers are based on the same design and principles, but benefit from the latest volume control dampers and intelligent control systems to accurately manage the throughput of ventilation air.
Wind CatcherWindcatcher top down natural ventilation systems encapsulate the wind from any direction, and these have proved to be one of the most reliable and popular forms of natural ventilation. The natural elements of wind movement encapsulate clean, fresh air from above roof level and the resulting wind pressure pushes the fresh air supply through the Windcatcher system down into the building below. This tends to slightly pressurise the room below, forcing out warmer stale air, which rises naturally to ceiling level using buoyancy effects and the air is carried up and out through the leeward side of the roof mounted turret.
All of which makes natural ventilation the ‘preferred option’ to air conditioning in maintaining a healthy and environmentally friendly building interior, especially as people often complain that air conditioned buildings can cause a number of health problems including Sick Building Syndrome.
Air conditioning systems also demand constant maintenance, and complaints from users suggest that they are often noisy and too cold; and worst of all, they use up precious energy! Windcatcher natural ventilation systems by comparison have none of these disadvantages and even on hot sunny days when external temperatures reach 25°C+ with little or no wind, Windcatchers will successfully maintain a comfortable internal environment.Ventilation
