SpeedDeck, maker of the UK’s best-established secret-fix roofing systems, has launched SpeedForm, an insulated structural cassette roofing system that combines the benefits of offsite manufacture with exceptional insulation properties and environmental credentials.

SpeedForm can be used in all roofing applications and support most kinds of roof system – the pre-fabricated sections are simply lifted into place on site to provide the structural element of the roof. This cuts build times and construction costs while also reducing the need for working at height. SpeedDeck can even provide the lifting equipment free of charge.

To further ease onsite construction, integrated natural light Sunpipe openings can be factory installed prior to delivery.

Built around EcoJoist open-web joists to give a light, strong and rigid construction, SpeedForm incorporates 305mm or 425mm of non-combustible glass wool primary insulation with rock fibre infill insulation. The panels are faced with 11mm OSB to the top and a 0.7mm polyester coated steel WalkLiner on the underside.

The design ensures an extremely airtight roof construction with very low U-values – down to 0.143 W/m2K for 425mm thick insulation – and spans of up to 8.5m. U-values can be further reduced to 0.122 W/m2K by adding a further 50mm of PIR insulation on site.

Offsite manufacturing at SpeedDeck’s Yaxley site provides a number of valuable environmental, quality and logistical benefits. By minimising waste and reducing the volume of materials transported to site the embodied CO2 content of the roof is significantly reduced, while the controlled manufacturing environment ensures consistent high quality. Speedy and efficient construction on site – with no waste or material supplies to control – gives accelerated build programmes and reduced costs.

To further underline SpeedForm’s green credentials; all the timber used in the roof cassettes is Chain of Custody certified to come from sustainable sources, the insulation has zero global warming or ozone depletion potential, and the metal elements are fully recyclable. In addition, as SpeedDeck is a Planet Positive company, SpeedForm can be supplied with 110% carbon offset.
