Structural Decking System

SpeedDeck’s full range of VT Structural Decking and VK Cassette Trays Systems provide an economical solution for long span installations eliminating the need for purlins, providing an uncluttered internal finish used in conjunction with timber, glulam, or hot rolled steel rafters. The structural decking range provide a profiled internal finish, whereas the cassette trays offer the benefit of a flat internal finish and can be used on roof or wall applications.

The VK Structural Decking range will span up to 10 metres depending on the project specific loads, providing a strong walkable platform for the installation of the remaining roof system. The structural decking roof sheet is generally laid across the rafters of the structural and transverse to the direction of our standing seam or through fixed roof systems.

Other flat roof systems such as single ply membrane, liquid applied and hot melt systems can be used in conjunction with our full range of structural decking systems, and traditional roofing systems such as slates and tiles or tile effect metal systems are used in conjunction with our structural cassette trays.

The gauge and profile of the our structural decking systems are calculated by our experienced technical team based on rafter centres, all external roof loads, internal wind loads, service loads (e.g. lighting) and the dead weight of the construction components. structural decking and cassette trays can be used as simply supported or diaphragm action can be achieved to use to assist in bracing the main frame thus reducing the secondary bracing members.

The deeper profiled VK Structural decks, and the VK Cassette Trays can be supplied perforated, and acoustic slabs or batts installed to enhance the acoustic absorption. Built up systems provide the additional benefit that additional layers can be applied with the roof or cladding build up to suit more rigorous acoustic specifications, or great U-Value applications.
